UniSTeP: Secure Communication Platform

UniSTePToday digital communication is more important than ever.          E-Mails are used as a steady communication channel.      Though it simplifies processes, it also holds many dangers. Quite often companies, authorities and public institutions become a target for industrial espionage or data theft.

Responsible for that are the mostly heterogeneous net infrastructures with their few net transitions and the lack of satisfactory security solutions.

UniSTeP is a universal platform for a secure E2E communication. The system is independent of the net structure, protocols and services. Target of the UniSTeP-Project is the development of an open, universal communication and security platform which is independent of net infrastructures.

This platform guarantees security target such as confidentiality, integrity of the transmitted data and verifiability of the partners identity. Thus UniSTeP satisfies the need of public institutions and commercial companies for an adequate and secure communication infrastructure.

Therefore the platform suits where branched companies and chain store companies have to communicate securely. Also for public institutions such as authorities or public health UniSTeP ensures secure communication channels.

UniSTeP Solution

Within the framework of a pilot project, the UniSTeP-Platform has been integrated into the communication infrastructure of the Saarland data net. By disclosing the modules and interfaces the spread of security technologies for telecommunication should accelerate. At the same time the accompanying certification according to the internation accedited Common Criteria for IT Security Evaluation (CC) proves the security performance.

Advantages

  • Technology trespassing
  • Secure communication between different systems
  • Universal platform, independent of existing infrastructure
  • Provable cryptographic techniques and processes
